How can I use the ATD-300 with Bose headsets? Plug the ATD-300 audio cable into the pilot's standard headphone jack in the aircraft. Connect the Bose headset to its jack in the aircraft. Radio and traffic warnings will be heard simultaneously on the Bose headsets. Disregard ATD-300 audio cable phone jack.
ATD-300 audio is weak but radio audio is normal. If using an intercom, set it to the "Isolation" mode. If this brings the audio up, your intercom output impedance is too low. Try increasing the ATD-300 volume or connecting the ATD-300 audio to the intercom EXT/Music input. My King Air has electric windshield de-icing. Will the ATD-300 work? The embedded heat wires in the windshield will attenuate the traffic signal from the front. It is recommended that an external antenna be used.
Why is the ATD-300 detection range 5NM? Experience has shown that traffic indication beyond 5NM becomes annoying since most GA traffic is not visible farther than 1.5 NM. As the detection radius is increased, the volume increases exponentially thus increasing the number of irrelevant traffic indicated.

How long does it take to install the ATD-300? Typically it takes three man-hours for the antenna, wiring and panel work.
Can the ATD-300 share the transponder antenna? The ATD-300 cannot share the existing transponder or DME antenna. The ATD-300 must have its own separate transponder/DME type antenna at least two feet from the transponder antenna.
I no longer have a DME onboard. Can I use the old DME antenna? Yes, the ATD-300 will work fine with the old DME antenna.
Does the ATD-300 need a separate speaker? If the aircraft is equipped with an audio panel that drives the cockpit speaker, traffic warnings will be heard on the speaker too. The ATD-300 audio must be wired to an un-switched input such as radio altimeter or warning input (KMA-24 pin T). If there is no audio panel the ATD-300 speaker output must be wired to a dedicated speaker. The ATD-300 cannot share the radios speaker.
Why should the ATD-300 antenna be mounted on the bottom side? The bottom side location provides balanced coverage for traffic above and below. A top mounted antenna will have a greater detection range for traffic above but minimum for traffic below. This is due to the bottom location of the transponder antennas on the traffic aircraft.
