New to market is the Yaesu/Vertex Standard VXA-220 Pro VI - an ultracompact airband transceiver. It is successor to the well known VXA-150, with some interesting features added. The VXA-220 is more compact and weighs less than its predecessor, it is extremely rugged and waterproof. 5 watts peak transmit power will get your message through. And an extra high 700 mW audio power lets you hear transmissions even in high-noise environments. The VXA-220 has an 8-digit alphanumeric display with background lighting (also for the keypad) and 250 memory channels. Now at an introductory price:

The VXA-220 features a rechargable NiMH with negligible memory effect and a choice between 25- and 8,33-kHz frequency spacing for receiving. Included are the NiMH battery, a 220-Volt charger with desktop stand, a "rubber duck" antenna and an adaptor for aviation headsets.
